  • Matthew Long

    Superintendent, Operations

    Matt served in the 114th Transportation Company in the Minnesota National Guard, overseeing the largest unit in the state, while maintaining his role as Superintendent Operations at CPKC.

     

    “Both the military and the railway have taught me to manage logistics while inspiring a team of people to work together for a greater purpose. The foundational skills I’ve learned in both careers complement and strengthen each other so I’m able to promote operational excellence within the company and among those I work with.”

  • Larry Lloyd

    Assistant Vice President, U.S. Government Affairs

    Larry Lloyd has served more than 24 years in the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of First Sergeant and now Captain in the Army Reserve while working at CPKC as Assistant Vice-President U.S. Government Affairs. While on active duty he has combat deployments and mobilizations to Iraq, South Korea, Uganda, Bulgaria, Hungary and Germany as well as conducting missions in Poland, Slovakia, Kosovo, Denmark, Kuwait and Djibouti.


    “Railways have long been among supportive employers of veterans and those still serving. My supervisor has been incredibly supportive and ensures I have time and support to fulfill my Army requirements. I could never maintain the balance of the two roles without that encouragement.”

  • Craig Volstad

    Director, Training

    Craig joined the railway with 25 years of military experience. He served across Canada, the U.S., Europe and two combat tours in Afghanistan. Craig brings a wealth of experience and leadership to his work at the railway. His dedication to professional development has earned him several post-secondary degrees and an accomplished career in the military. 
     

    After joining CPKC, Craig has leveraged his military experience to earn several promotions. In his current position, he puts his leadership skills to work every day. Craig believes CPKC is an ideal organization for veterans. He highlights the dynamic nature with endless opportunities for leaders with strong values who are committed to something bigger than themselves and a solid work ethic. 

  • Jared Wagar

    Managing Director Operational Risk Mitigation

    Jared Wagar, Managing Director Operational Risk Mitigation, received the Employee Support for Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award. A veteran himself, this award reflects Jared’s incredible support for employees who serve their country as reservists or national guards in addition to their work at CPKC. 
     

    Herschel Flowers, Manager Corporate Security, and a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve, nominated Jared for this award. 

     

    “Thanks to the support I have received from Jared and my supervisor chain I have continued my commitment to serve our nation since I feel that what I do is valued, appreciated and encouraged by civilian supervisors,” said Herschel. “They understand the value that military members bring to CPKC.”
